Frequently Asked Questions

About Our Products

What are reclaimed bricks?

Reclaimed bricks are bricks that have been salvaged from old buildings and demolition sites. They are carefully cleaned and sorted to be reused in new construction projects. Using them preserves a piece of history and adds unique character that new materials cannot replicate.

What are the benefits of using reclaimed bricks?

Reclaimed bricks offer a unique combination of sustainability, durability, and aesthetic appeal. They are an eco-friendly choice, reducing landfill waste and the carbon emissions associated with new brick production. Their weathered appearance provides an authentic look perfect for restoration projects and adds character to modern builds.

Are reclaimed bricks as strong as new bricks?

Yes. Reclaimed bricks have already proven their durability by withstanding the elements for decades, sometimes even centuries. We conduct rigorous quality checks to ensure they meet current building standards, so you can be confident in their strength and longevity.

How do I know if reclaimed bricks are right for my project?

Reclaimed bricks are incredibly versatile and are suitable for a wide range of projects. They are ideal for conservation work and extensions on period properties where matching existing brickwork is crucial. They are also popular for creating distinctive garden walls, patios, and interior feature walls in both traditional and contemporary designs.

What types of reclaimed timber do you stock?

We offer a diverse selection of reclaimed timber, including beams, floorboards, cladding, and railway sleepers. Each piece is carefully salvaged to preserve its quality and character for reuse in your projects.

Can reclaimed timber be used structurally?

Some of our reclaimed timber is suitable for structural use, particularly larger beams and railway sleepers. However, suitability depends on the specific application and the condition of the timber. Other pieces are better suited for decorative purposes. We recommend discussing your project requirements with our team to ensure you select the right timber for the job.

What types of reclaimed slates and tiles do you stock?

Our stock includes a variety of high-quality reclaimed roofing materials, such as Welsh slate, Westmorland slate, clay roof tiles, and terracotta tiles. These are perfect for roof repairs, extensions, or creating an authentic look on a new build. 90% of our stock is reclaimed by our team.

Why choose reclaimed slate or tiles over new ones?

Reclaimed slates and tiles provide an authentic match for period properties, which is often a requirement for listed buildings or homes in conservation areas. They possess a natural, weathered patina that new materials take years to develop, adding instant character and charm to any roofing project.
