Pizza oven bricks: a customer’s success story

We love hearing what amazing things our satisfied customers have created from our reclaimed brick supplies. Recently, one such customer – Asia Kostka – got in touch to share the details of how she used our stocks in her fantastic pizza oven project.

My wife (an art advisor) and I live in Kensal Rise in a terraced Victorian home with a garden that we love; we spend a lot of time in between gardening and entertaining. I am a culinary chef and have always dreamt of having a wood-burning pizza oven. We finally came to be able to realize this dream this summer! I had been doing a lot of research about pizza ovens over the past year and really wanted to go as sustainable and aluminum free as possible, and I discovered old bricks – especially red clay bricks – were a good alternative.

Then we found London Reclaimed Brick Merchants and the rest is history! Well, not exactly… but it made my vision a possibility!

We have been curing it slowly with small fires as we create our insulation layer using clay, sand and straw. We have also been trying to find the perfect firewood for the big fires to come, and are looking forward to making our first pizzas before Christmas!”
