Four factors for delivery success
Many aspects of our business work in tandem, each contributing something vital to the success of our next day delivery promise. We feel like these can be grouped into four main factors for next day delivery success.
- Extensive stock: with our huge, wide-ranging stock, we are able to fulfil the vast majority of orders immediately and with ease. We have three brickyard depots – located in London, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire – which can hold up to one and a half million bricks at any one time! This ever-ready, large stock of bricks and natural stone allows us to swiftly satisfy the needs of the vast majority of customers.
- High performing delivery lorries: our delivery lorries are high performance, capable and efficient vehicles. The 26 tonne, rigid Renault lorries can carry up to 6,000 bricks, are equipped with HIAB cranes for easy offloading, and are packed with safety features – we have even received press coverage for our modern and adept fleet. Not only can our lorries handle large orders, they still offer good maneuverability, ideal for accessing any building site.
- Established plans for busy periods: despite our impressive fleet, there are still times when we receive an influx of orders which we cannot deliver alone. Instead of compromising on our next day delivery promise, we have established relationships with trusted third party delivery companies – such as Palletline and Palletworks – to ensure you still promptly receive your order.
- Strong coordination and organisation: our team have many years of experience effectively meeting our customers’ needs. All our depot teams are in regular communication with our head office, ensuring deliveries go smoothly and orders are marked up and prepared the day before delivery. Strong coordination also means, should any complications arise, they can be handled quickly.
Safety and environmental consciousness
As a company, LRBM work hard to operate safely at all times, striving to stay up to date with, and improve upon, safety practices. FORS accreditation
The Fleet Operators Recognition Scheme (FORS) advises and trains fleet operators, encouraging them to measure and improve upon safety, efficiency and their environmental impact. As committed members, we benefit from this scheme through actioning their expert guidance, improving safety practices, refining congested and city driving plans and reducing fuel use and emissions. Our FORS accreditation demonstrates our commitment towards the best practice on the road and to wider corporate social responsibility.
Safe Urban Driving
All of our operators undergo Safe Urban Driving (SUD) training to ensure they are well-equipped for driving in urbanised settings, where many types of road users will be present. There is a particular focus on sharing the road safely with vulnerable road users, understanding the best driving techniques and maintaining effective safety equipment.
Cycle Safety Action Plan
To further ensure our fleet are driving safely on the roads, all our vehicles are fitted with cycle safety equipment. We also adhere to the Cycle Safety Action Plan (CSAP) which has been formulated by TfL and backed by the Mayor of London to try and make cycling in the capital as safe and injury-free as possible.
